our history
Brave Global was launched in California in 2014 and quickly became a favorite annual point of contact for vulnerable youth with positive and uplifting messages from speakers, artists, dancers, and community leaders. Brave has been a tremendous success now having 21 chapters in the U.S. and an ever-expanding global presence now in 5 other countries.
In the fall of 2018, Brave Global was launched in Canada! Since this time Brave Global Canada has had multiple events across the country with tremendous success! In January 2022, Brave Global Canada received its charity status and became a federally recognized charity in Canada, continuously building strategic alliances with Counter Human Trafficking organizations, Children's Aid Society, school boards, law enforcement, and other community organizations to help put an end to sex trafficking. There are many organizations that help vulnerable women once they are already involved in sex trafficking, but very few aim to educate and empower girls prior to them being approached by those that wish to exploit them. We believe that the mobilization of local communities can put a permanent end to the exploitation of vulnerable youth everywhere. The Brave Global Organizations are a global preventative strategy to empower vulnerable youth to help stop exploitation and trafficking.
VIsion
Brave Global Canada is a catalytic movement whose aim is to educate and empower girls that come from vulnerable situations, with hopes to engage them before they become victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking. We invite individuals and communities across Canada to partner with BRAVE to reach the most vulnerable and at-risk youth in their areas, to show them we see them, they matter, and we are with them. We believe that the mobilization of local communities can put a permanent end to the exploitation of girls across Canada.
MISSION
The mission of Brave Global Canada is to be a catalyst in the prevention of exploitation and trafficking of girls, using 3 primary methods “Brave Events, Brave Circles - small group mentoring sessions, and the Brave Leadership Academy.
what are brave events?
A Brave Event is a day that is set-up to host hundreds of girls with a life-changing day just for them. This empowerment event is structured to deliver a message of hope, love, value, and purpose. This is achieved by bringing in guest speakers, visual artists, dancers, self-defense experts, spoken word poets, and community leaders who themselves have walked through adversity and can clearly demonstrate that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Each Brave event also features a whole host of community volunteers that help each and every attendee feel special and loved.
WHAT ARE BRAVE CIRCLES?
Brave Circles are small group mentoring sessions based around a Brave interactive journal that helps girls with their daily progress. These journals are themed around identity, healthy relationships, boundaries, and mental wellness. Brave Circles is an excellent way to sustain Brave Global Canada’s relationship with youth and their caregivers long after a Brave Event.
WHAT is the brave leadership academy?
The Brave Leadership Academy is designed to cultivate and prepare leaders of tomorrow to be leaders in their local community as well as learn skills such as public speaking, event planning, small group leading, peacemaking, and collaboration. We also aim to foster character development in the areas of confidence, leadership, listening, perseverance, organization/ time management, and increase a sense of dignity and self. The Brave Leadership Academy desires a world where vulnerable girls are seen as the solution to the problem, instead of the problem itself.
